# How Findity uses AI in expense management

At Findity, we integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our expense management platform to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve accounting accuracy. We prioritise security, data privacy, and strict compliance with European regulations so you can use our AI features with confidence.

## What AI does in Findity today

Findity currently uses AI and machine learning models to streamline receipt processing and data verification:

* **OCR and receipt parsing** — Our in-house Large Language Model (LLM) reads and extracts structured data from uploaded receipts.
* **Receipt categorisation** — Automatically suggests the correct expense category and accounting codes.
* **Duplicate detection** — Identifies and flags receipts that may have already been submitted.
* **Non-receipt detection** — Detects uploaded images that do not represent valid receipts before submission.

## Upcoming AI features

We are continually expanding our AI capabilities to make expense management even smoother. Planned AI agents include:

* **Creator Agent** — Assists users in generating and drafting expense submissions seamlessly.
* **Compliance Agent** — Approval guidance that automatically checks submitted expenses against company policies, compares with similar previously submitted expenses, and flags potential violations before approval.
* **Controller Agent** — Reviewer guidance that automatically checks approved expenses against company policies, compares with similar previously submitted expenses, and flags potential violations before the report is ready to send.
* **Support Agent** — Provides intelligent, in-app guidance to answer user queries and resolve expense-related issues in real time.

## Data privacy and security

We maintain strict data governance and infrastructure controls across all AI operations:

* **Your data is not used to train models** — If you choose to opt out of our AI features, your data will not be used to train our models. Regardless of your choice, your data never leaves our infrastructure.
* **EU-hosted infrastructure** — All AI processing runs entirely within our secure, EU-hosted co-location infrastructure. No data leaves the EU.
* **Security standards** — Our platform is hosted on ISO 27001-compliant infrastructure, and SOC 2 Type 2 certification is currently underway.
* **Data roles** — Your organisation acts as the data controller, while Findity operates strictly as the data processor.

## Human oversight and control

AI in Findity is designed to assist human decisions, not replace them:

* **No automated rejections** — The system only flags potential issues for human review. No expense is rejected without human intervention.
* **Low-risk classification** — Under the EU AI Act, Findity's AI functionalities are currently classified as low-risk AI systems.
* **Structured and reliable outputs** — AI outputs strictly follow defined formats to ensure programmatic accuracy and prevent unauthorised changes.
